Petlume is designed to help you keep your pet’s moments and information organized. Here is how data is handled in the app and on this website.
1. Controller and contact
The controller for personal data handled through the website and support contacts is Matteo Carachino, independent developer of Petlume. For questions about privacy or the app, email petlume@matteocarachino.com.
We use messages sent to this address to reply and provide support. Please do not include unnecessary personal or health information in your message.
2. Scope of this notice
This notice covers the Petlume iOS app and the website petlume.matteocarachino.com. They handle information differently: the app helps you organize your pet’s information; the website introduces the product, offers support and makes this notice available.
3. Information handled in the app
You may choose to enter your pet’s name, species, breed, date of birth, pictures, notes, activities, Journal and Life Map events, vaccinations, medications, veterinary appointments, weight, and shopping-list items.
Notes, documents and pictures chosen by users may also contain personal data about people. Please enter only what you need. A Petlume account is not required for the app’s core features.
4. Purposes and legal grounds
Information you enter into the app is used to organize pet profiles, show records, track activities and care, and, if authorized, schedule on-device reminders. Information kept only on your device is not sent to the developer for these purposes.
For information the developer actually receives, such as support emails, purposes include replying to requests, providing assistance and keeping the service secure. Where the GDPR applies, lawful grounds may include taking steps requested by the user, legitimate interests in responding to requests and website security, and compliance with applicable legal obligations.
5. Local storage and backups
Petlume is designed as an offline-first experience: records you create for your pets are organized on your device. The Settings → Data and Backup section lets you manage manual backups to a file or to iCloud.
When you export a backup, you select its destination. If stored in iCloud Drive or elsewhere, that provider’s terms and your settings also govern retention and deletion. A manual backup does not necessarily mean continuous synchronization across devices.
6. iOS permissions and features
Depending on the action you take, Petlume can use the iOS photo picker and request permission to send reminder notifications. If you enable app protection, Face ID or Touch ID is handled by Apple’s authentication system: the app does not receive biometric templates stored by iOS.
You can manage permissions in iOS Settings. Disabling a permission may limit its associated feature.
7. Apple services and third parties
The app relies on iOS capabilities. When you use iCloud or select an external destination for exported files, that provider may process data under its own terms and privacy policy. Access to selected photos and biometric authentication is managed through iOS.
Petlume does not provide public pet profiles or automatically publish information you enter. The website code shipped with this release does not embed advertising pixels or third-party analytics services. For details about processing by Apple and Cloudflare, consult their privacy notices.
8. Website technical data and preferences
The website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. To deliver and secure pages, Cloudflare may process technical request data such as IP addresses and browser information in accordance with its privacy notice.
The site does not use advertising cookies, embedded visitor-tracking scripts or integrated analytics. The light/dark appearance preference is saved only in your browser using localStorage; you can clear it by deleting the site’s browser data.
9. Retention and deletion
Locally stored records remain available until you delete them through the app or device controls. Removing the app normally removes local app data, but it does not automatically remove copies you previously exported or saved in iCloud; these must be deleted separately.
Support emails are retained as long as reasonably necessary to respond and comply with legal obligations. Technical data handled by Cloudflare is subject to that provider’s policies.
10. Your rights
Under applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection and, where available, portability of personal data processed by the developer, and complain to the relevant supervisory authority. Contact petlume@matteocarachino.com.
For information stored only on your device, the developer does not have direct access. Use the app, device settings, and any services holding your exported backup to manage those records.
11. Children
Petlume is designed for people caring for pets, not for collecting children’s personal data. Avoid recording unnecessary personal information about children in profiles or documents.
12. Changes and contact
We may update this notice as app features, technologies and legal requirements evolve. The current version and revision date will be available here.
